The board of directors of Qatar Central Bank chaired by H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Saoud Al Thani, QCB Governor & Chairman of the Board have launched the redesigned website of Qatar Central Bank www.qcb.gov.qa.
The new site provides its visitors with a wide range of information, data, and analyses that cover the various activities conducted by QCB and presents substantial information and explanations related to policies adopted by QCB, exchange rate policy, monetary, supervision and other policies and instructions pertaining to the banking and financial sector, in both Arabic and English languages.
Furthermore, the site contains momentous information on QCB payment systems, public debt and policies and indicators of financial stability in the State of Qatar. QCB publications, such as annual reports, statistical bulletins, current news and events in the financial and economic arena, are also conveniently available online.
The important information provided by the site comprises indicative prices of the currency exchange rates against the Qatari riyal, and the QCB Deposit Rate, Lending Rate and Repurchase Rate, in addition to the Banks’ Performance Indicators.
The site offers a virtual tour that features the various issues of banknotes, along with their history, using the highest technology that helps the visitor to review the various sets of banknotes, with the possibility to choose the banknote he wishes, flip it and identify the high-tech security features adopted on both the front and the back of the notes, along with a brief presentation explaining the history of each banknote using high-resolution images.
The home page combines the charm of the past with the present advancement and progress in a set of images that reflect the features used in the design of the Qatari Riyal issues.
The QCB resorted to the latest development techniques to build its new website as an essential platform to the establishment and management of the site's content.
The site is divided into seven main groups, including an Overview of the QCB, the Relevant Legislation, Policy Framework, Public Debt Tools, Financial Stability, Supervision Approach and Consumer Protection. Each set comprises a series of important topics such as the Core Purposes, Structure, Instructions to Banks, Exchange Rate Policy, Payment Systems, Offsite and Onsite Supervision, Licensing and Registration and Anti-Money Laundering & Combating the Financing of Terrorism. The site also includes useful links to the banks and other financial institutions operating in Qatar, as well as the relevant international institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, the Arab Monetary Fund, the World Bank and its subsidiary bodies.
