The Qatar Central Bank (QCB), Doha-Qatar, is seeking to fill a vacancy in the Department of Economic Policies.

The department is responsible for conducting analyses and studies on:

 

1. Monetary and Exchange Rate Policy.  

2. Financial Stability. 

3. Balance of Payments.

4. GDP Forecasts.

5. Studies pertaining to the proposed GCC Monetary Union.

6. Other policy oriented studies and studies pertaining to monetary and domestic economic developments.

 

 The Department publications include:

1. QCB Annual Report.

2. QCB Monetary Report: Analytical Biannual; Planned to be published quarterly.

3. Other reports on Financial Stability, BOP, Inflation, …etc.

 

I.  Economist

 

Successful candidate will be expected to 

1. Prepare the QCB Monetary Report in a timely manner.

2. Participate in the preparation of the QCB Annual Report.

3. Prepare briefing materials and offer consultation to senior management.

4. Contribute to other QCB publications and speeches.

5. Conduct an in depth economic analysis and (participate in) empirical research projects in the field of monetary economics.

 

Qualifications and Experience

1. Advanced degree in economics, preferably Ph.D, and a sound academic record in macroeconomics (monetary economics is an advantage), or proven ability to perform the tasks commensurate with such formal academic qualification. A good understanding of the functioning of financial markets is a valuable asset.

2. Strong quantitative skills-demonstrated by a sound knowledge of up-to-date statistical and econometric techniques-for analytical purposes.

3. Experience in preparing policy-related briefings and analytical materials.

4. Very good command of English and proven ability to communicate effectively in non-technical terms, both orally and in writing. Command of Arabic language is an advantage. 

 

The candidate should have the ability to work independently and to contribute to team achievements under time pressure. 

 

II.  Translator

Successful candidate will be expected to

1. Fluently translate publications and reports from English to Arabic and vice versa.

2. Communicate fluently in both Arabic and English.

 

Qualifications and Experience

1. A university degree in economics or related fields; preferably sound academic record in macroeconomics or proven ability to perform the tasks commensurate with such formal academic qualification. A sound understanding of the functioning of financial markets is a valuable asset.

2. Experience in translating policy-related briefings and analytical materials.

3. Very good command of English/Arabic languages and proven ability to communicate effectively in non-technical terms, both orally and in writing.

4. The candidate should have the ability to work independently and to contribute to team achievements under time pressure. 

 

III.  Graphic Designer

 

Typical Tasks

1. Creation of original visual/multimedia concepts

2. Creation of vector and raster graphics for web, multimedia and print.

 

Requirements

1. 3-5 Years experience in the Graphic Design industry and constructing websites.

2. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.

3. High level of competence using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, PageMaker, Macromedia Flash, PowerPoint and other common graphic software.

4. Experience in 2D and 3D animation.

5. Working knowledge of HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, graphic formats, CSS, popular plug-ins and their authoring tools.

6. Able to create consistent and professional graphics.

7. Ability to quickly and efficiently come up with and present creative ideas.

8. Good communication skills.

9. Ability to collaborate with a team or work autonomously.

10.Thoroughness and highly detail minded.
