Customer Protection Department
Customer protection in the financial sector is defined as a set of policies, regulations, and procedures designed to ensure fair and transparent treatment of customers by financial institutions. It safeguards customers’ rights and empowers them to make informed financial decisions, thereby fostering trust in the financial system.
In alignment with this concept, the Qatar Central Bank established a dedicated Customer Protection Department, responsible for safeguarding the financial rights of individuals and businesses, ensuring they receive fair and transparent services. The department also handles complaints with the highest standards of integrity and impartiality. Furthermore, it develops and regularly updates relevant policies and guidelines pertaining to customer protection, thereby enhancing transparency and trust between customers and financial institutions.
Key responsibilities of the department include receiving customer complaints and feedback through designated channels, and addressing them with fairness and neutrality. Additionally, the department formulates and updates policies and directives related to customer protection, guiding financial institutions to comply effectively. This ensures that customers have access to clear and transparent information that empowers them to make sound financial decisions, enriches their financial literacy, and encourages responsible engagement with financial products and services.
Our Vision:
To realize the vision of the Qatar Central Bank by strengthening the protection of customer rights, upholding the principles of fairness and transparency, and building sustainable trust in the financial sector, thereby promoting financial inclusion, stability, and economic development.
